Despite several initiatives and safety strategies being implemented to minimise road deaths and injuries, they are still increasing. Last year over 15 000 people died on South Africa’s roads, costing the economy R50 Billion Rand. This year the international spotlight is back on Road Safety, following the launch of the United Nations Decade of Road Action, which aims to cut road deaths by 50 % by 2020.
This conference will once again aim to find a collaborative strategy to improve road safety in all 9 provinces, as well as between the public and private sector.
