Dear Woman in Politics,

Over 220 women representing more than 10 African Countries attended the Intelligence Transfer Centre (ITC,) Women in Politics Africa Conference.

We solute the high-level speakers across Africa who took the time to speak to women in elected positions and inspire them to rise and take up the challenge in politics.  The room was filled with women, more than able, to enter the political arena once again proving progression.

ITC is looking forward to hosting this conference in Africa for next year and for years to come and set an objective platform for women across Africa to meet and strategise on promoting the 50/50 quota for women in top political positions.

Hon. Winnie Madikizela-Mandela was the first speaker discussing mainstreaming women into politics.  Her support at the conference was overwhelming and her message ended with: “women should rise and the time is now” she also made sure to visit the conference on the second day to once again show her support.  As an extremely powerful women she was down to earth patiently posing for photos and enjoying songs of praise.

Hon. Vice President Joice Mujuru from Zimbabwe addressed the congress on enabling and empowering women to run for presidency and her hospitality and wonderful nature was key to an inspiring talk.

Other Women Ministers from various African countries that spoke included: Tanzania, Malawi, Botswana, Lesotho and Kenya.  South Africa was also represented by Hon. Hazel Jenkins, Premier Northern Cape.
A special thanks to our media partner Avusa Media, who played an active role in advertising the conference in some of their major publications reaching various African countries.  Avusa Media also distributed the Times and Sowetan newspapers to each delegate over 3 days.
